After researching this question for literally anything that pointed to a Windows version launching before the deadline, I came up empty-handed.
The story so far, is that Atlas launched on macOS on October 21, 2025, and over eight months later it remains macOS only. There’s no announced Windows release date, no public beta, and no insider preview as of now. The "coming soon" language has been unchanged since launch. When OpenAI first put it out they said the other versions were on the way:

"Experiences for Windows, iOS, and Android are coming soon."

That was months ago and it hasn't changed. If you scroll through the Atlas update notes, everything they've done recently has been Mac-related work. Nothing at all hints at a Windows build coming together in the background.

I also looked at the "super app" plan, since that's the other way the browser could end up on Windows. From what's been reported, OpenAI is building out Codex with more features first, and adding the browser and ChatGPT functionality sometime afterward. The first real preview of the combined app keeps getting described as something for later in the year. So even that probability seems to point to after the resolution cutoff.

Something else to be mindful of is that OpenAI doesn't seem to be in any hurry. The company's focus right now is clearly Codex and the super app narrative, and all the IPO talk surrounding it. A standalone Windows browser doesn't look like something they're urgently racing towards.

@admins how does this resolve if there's just web browser functionality in Codex for Windows? This already appears to be the case, kind of? I'm unclear on where the distinction would lie between the current features and "equivalent to Atlas".

I would not consider Codex as its current state a valid source of resolution. This is because of how it requires an extension to be installed onto a main browser before being available to use. Their documentation states "To use it, install and enable the Browser plugin. Then ask Codex to use the browser in your task, or reference it directly with @Browser". This implies that Codex is not a browser, instead "using the browser", failing check 1 "(1) a web browser". They additionally state "Use it when you’re building or debugging a web app and want to preview pages and attach visual comments" suggesting usage mainly for debugging rather than standard browsing.

My interpretation of "equivalent to Atlas" means an app that passes the first 2 checks, alongside being functionally the same as Atlas (or declared successor).
